

Sharon Ruth Thornhill, 74, passed away from Covid Pneumonia on January 17, 2022. She was born in Austin, Texas on September 6, 1947, to Robert and Ruth Adams. She graduated from McCallum High School in 1965 and married Joe Thornhill on October 15, 1966. Early on, she worked as a secretary at the Texas Department of Health and then The University of Texas at Austin Department of Environmental Engineering. She and Joe had two daughters and, after four cross-country moves, returned to the Austin area in 1974 to be near extended family.
Sharon was instrumental in helping Joe launch Thornhill & Associates, a Mechanical Forensic Engineering Firm in 1995. She managed payroll and firm insurance until 2012, when Joe retired, and the firm was sold. Sharon was active in her church, served as the Secretary for Crystal Lake Baptist Church for 24 years and prepared meals for Wednesday night Prayer Meetings and other events. She was in charge of The Good News Club at Winkley Elementary School in Leander for several years. Sharon and Joe, along with their children, traveled extensively in the United States. She was a blessing to many and will be dearly missed.
Sharon loved needlework, birds, flowers, and gardening. Family was very important to Sharon. She was a good mother and grandmother and really enjoyed family gatherings. She met with her mother and sisters every week for over 40 years to shop, play cards and have lunch. After moving to Bertram in 2017, she and Joe enjoyed making the rounds to fill the many bird feeders on the property.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father Robert M. Adams, brother Tommy Lee and sister Robin Jobe, and she is survived by her husband, Joe Thornhill; mother Ruth Adams (by three days), sister Janet Adams; daughter Wendy Meyer (husband Steve); daughter Tonya Preece (husband Tim); grandchildren Taylor and Chloe Preece; brother-in-law Ken Jobe; nephew Jason Jobe (wife Molly); and great niece and nephew Haylee and Abel Jobe.
A memorial service will be held at Crystal Lake Baptist Church, 3400 N. Lakeline Blvd, Leander, TX 78641 at 11:00 AM on January 29, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to Crystal Lake Baptist Church or the American Bible Association to facilitate spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
