Mr Bastiaan J Korteweg

Bastiaan J. “John” Korteweg, 90, of Pine Grove, passed away in Manor Care, Lebanon on Wednesday, September 9th, 2011. He was born in Sommeldyck, Netherlands, a son of the late Korstiaan Korteweg. He was the husband for 64 years of Grace E. Swanson Korteweg. Mr. Korteweg was retired from Woolworth, Footlocker and Continental Insurance where he was a Supervising and Chief engineer in the Air conditioning and Refrigeration department. He served in the Dutch Navy during WWII for 9 years. He was a member of Tremont Seniors, Christian men’s breakfast at the Red Lion Restaurant. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Lebanon. Surviving are his wife, daughter: Christina Grace Korteweg of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son: Philip J., husband of Libby Korteweg of Chambersburg, Pa.; grandchildren: Jonathan G.B. Korteweg of Valley Twp.,Pa.; Jeremy G.K. Korteweg M.D. of Wako, T.X.; Johanna G.C. Korteweg of Chambersburg; Lisa Donofrio of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jeannette Donofrio of Brooklyn, N.Y. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at 7:30p.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home Inc. 508 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, Pa., 17042 with his pastor Wayne Burggraff officiating. Interment will be private in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa. Contributions may be made in John’s memory to John Korteweg Memorial Gift Fund, 220 S. 22nd St., Lebanon, Pa., 17042.
