Doris Jean Ayers

Doris J. Ayers, 80, Wilmington, De, formerly of Lebanon, passed away on Tuesday July 14, 2015 in the St. Francis Hospital, DE. She was the wife of Robert H. Ayers, Jr. with whom she would have celebrated a 55th wedding anniversary on August 20th. She was born in Lebanon on January 12, 1935 a daughter of the late Harold and Myrle Brandt. She was a graduate of Lebanon High School and Lebanon Valley College. She was a member of the Lebanon Moravian Church. Doris was a long-time organist for Covenant U. M. Church where she served for 54 years. She had taught in the Spring Grove School District and at Myerstown Elementary School. She was a member of the “Young at Heart” group of the Moravian Church and she enjoyed sewing, swimming and volunteering at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and Order of Amaranth who also loved to read and who provided piano lessons for many students for over 50 years. In addition to her husband she is survived by daughters: Bonnie S. Ayers, Wilmington, DE; Lori A. wife of Terry Everson, Framingham,MA; grandson: Peter Everson, MA; half-brother: Philip Brandt, Lancaster. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the Moravian Church, 1115 Birch Rd., Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will be made in the Covenant Greenwood Cemetery. Her family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church. The Rohland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
