Elizabeth grew up in Palos Park, outside of Chicago where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Werner. As a young woman, she had worked for the Chicago Tribune before marriage. During their married years, she and her husband were able to enjoy spending time in Carmel and San Francisco with visits to Lake Tahoe and various locations abroad.
Elizabeth and her family had relocated across the country several times during her lifetime, living most of their lives in the suburbs of San Francisco, New York City and Washington, D.C. Wherever they settled, she had a remarkable charm and beautiful smile that drew people to her. She liked to laugh, entertain, travel, loved good food and an interest in home decor, with a particular appreciation for French culture.
Elizabeth lived independently at Cornwall Manor for over 20 years. After her husband’s death she became a close companion and partner to Paul Miller whom she met at Cornwall.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sally Watts and Jane Itzel; a son, Peter Itzel and wife Janice; a sister, Barbara Olsen; and a brother, James Olsen.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Werner F. Itzel; and her loving companion, Paul Miller. She will be eternally reunited with her husband, Werner in Arlington Cemetery.
Per the family’s wishes, there are no public services scheduled.
