September 5, 2021 at the age of 91 years. She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa to William Clell Hancock and Lucille Lambert Hancock on April 11,1930. She met her husband, Seth Huisman, while attending Central College in Pella, Iowa. They enjoyed 70 years together in their blessed marriage based on true love and devotion. Together they had 4 children. Livvy was preceded in death by her son Timothy. She is survived by her husband Seth, son Steven Mark (Susan), daughters Kathryn Doyle (John) and Marcia Warner (John), as well as grandchildren Graham and Jessa Huisman, Kelly Copeland, Erin, Conor and Rory Doyle, Lydia and Jared Scott, and great grandchildren Keiko, Luisa, Phillip and Quinn. Livvy had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in many choirs over the years. She was also a gifted pianist and arranger. She taught piano privately for more than 30 years and generously offered her beautiful hymn arrangements to anyone who wanted them. You can access her hymn recordings at http://www.olivehuisman.com. After retiring as a piano teacher, she turned her attention to writing and publishing children’s stories. She incorporated many interesting memories from her own childhood. She kept her uniquely dry, witty sense of humor until her last days. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, September 16 at 1:00 in Zerr Chapel at Cornwall Manor.
