
Richard K. “Dick” Hess, 84, Myerstown, passed away on Monday June 15, 2015 in the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Rosemary Boyer Hess with whom he would have celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary in October. He was born in Lebanon on July 5, 1930 a son of the late Austin V. and Laura Reager Hess. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School class of 1948 and served in the Army National Guard for many years. He was a retired supervisor at Ft. Indiantown Gap with over 40 years of service. He worshipped at Hebron U.M. Church and was a member of the American Legion. He also belonged to the Sheriff’s Association. He had played for the Lebanon Rams semi-pro football team and was a Penn State football and Washington Redskins and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed watching his granddaughters play softball and traveling as well as fishing and hunting. In addition to his wife he is survived by children: Bruce R. and wife Linda Hess, New Castle, CA; Thomas D. Hess, Myerstown; Patty J. Hess, Myerstown; grandchildren: Gregory, Chad, Katherine, Olivia, Bethany; and great-grandchildren: Kierra and Chase; brother: John E. Hess, Hanover; sister: Peggy Margut, Lebanon. He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Hess. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 A.M. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042 where a viewing will begin at 9:30 A.M. Interment will be made in the Covenant Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Hebron U.M. Church, 451 E. Walnut St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
