Iain was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose strength, kindness, and quiet determination touched the lives of all who knew him.
He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his wife, Ruby, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, memories, and unwavering partnership.
He also leaves behind his children: Misty, Brianna (Jeff), Kyle, and Natalie, as well as his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy. Iain was a steady presence in his family’s lives—supportive, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand or offer guidance when it was needed most.
Iain was predeceased by his parents, Anne Sproule and Hans Weikl, whom he carried in his heart throughout his life.
The family would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the Grey Nuns Hospital, Unit 43, whose care, kindness, and support meant more than words can express during Iain’s final days. Your dedication and humanity provided comfort not only to Iain, but to his family as well.
Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. David’s United Church, 4614 48 Street, Leduc, AB, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Iain’s life, share stories, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Iain’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, which reflect the challenges he faced with courage and dignity, are greatly appreciated.
Iain’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, in the lessons he shared, and in the countless moments that will never be forgotten.
