Born west of Holden, she and her brother Bill helped on the family farm until their schooling was completed.
She attended the University of Alberta and earned a BA and diploma in education in 1942.
After one year of teaching in Fort McLeod Marj moved to Leduc in 1943 to teach at the high school.
She met Kenneth Campbell and despite shortages caused by war, they managed to marry complete
with wedding dress and cake in December 1944. She continued teaching off and on until her retirement in 1975.
Her life was marked by an enduring commitment to community life, with the hospital auxiliary, the ladies curling club,
library board, golf course director, Royal Purple officer and church organist for over 60 years.
She continued oil painting until her last days.
Always an avid golfer, she was delighted when she reached age 90 as the club provided carts at no charge.
Keen travelers, Marj, Ken and friends made many trips to Europe, Asia and other countries of interest.
One such adventure to England included an invitation to the Queen’s garden party.
She was fully engaged in an independent, rich and useful life until a year ago when overtaken by sudden illness.
She faced the challenge with courage, dignity and the compassionate help of many friends, for which we are grateful.
This intelligent, vigorous woman will be missed by her children Bill (Pat) and Jim (Carol);
her grandchildren Brad (Jill), Laura (Shaun), Andrew (Aileen), Celia (Dave) and Graham;
her great-grandchildren Charissa, Hailey, Arden, Evan and Carson.
She was a woman of substance and we were proud to call her mother. She was the keeper of our family.
