It is with great sadness that the family of Stan Pongar announce his passing on January 12th, 2024, at the age of 82. Stan passed away peacefully at the Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood after succumbing to a lengthy illness.
Stan leaves behind and will lovingly be remembered by his wife and partner of 58 years Verna, his children Leona (Chris) and Lorne (Valerie), grandchildren Quentin (Abigail), Nathan, Sheldon, Mackenzie, Brooke and Hayley, as well as other extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at St. David’s United Church, 4614 – 48 Street, Leduc, AB with Reverend Leigh Sinclair officiating. Those wishing to pay their final respects may do so between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff on Unit 5A2 at the University of Alberta Hospital and the staff on the 4th Floor of the Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood for their care and compassion while Stan was in their care.
