Sylvia June Griffith

Our beloved Mom, Grandma, and G.G., Sylvia June Griffith (nee: Messaros) of Leduc, Alberta, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on February 11, 2024, at the age of 84 years. Sylvia will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her children: Lori Kellert (Larry) and Greg Griffith (Shelley); her grandchildren: Aamanda Kellert (Andy), Jordan Kellert (Skye), Bradly Kellert, Geoffrey Fry, and Jonathan Fry (Alexandra); her great-grandchildren: Dante’, Piper, Cruze, Ruby, and Ryan; her brothers, Butch Messaros (Lorna) and Elmer Messaros (Doris), as well as many other relatives and friends.

She is predeceased by her brother, Eddie Messaros, and her parents, Joe and Julia Messaros.

Sylvia was born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan, on June 3, 1939, and moved to Leduc, Alberta, in 1975, where she cultivated a love for cooking and shared her talents in the food industry until her retirement from Salem Manor in 2005. An active member of the Kinnettes Club of Leduc and Al-Anon, Sylvia formed lasting friendships and dedicated herself to numerous volunteer efforts in the community. Sylvia found her greatest joy in the hugs and kisses of her 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 1:00 pm at St. David’s United Church (4614 48 St, Leduc, AB T9E 5X7). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sylvia’s name to either The Leduc Community Hospital Unit 21 or the Leduc Regional Housing Foundation.
