Brenda & James Jerry Woods

Brenda Sue Taylor Woods, age 75, of Irondale Alabama, passed away on March 23, 2025. Brenda was known to be a sharp witted, sassy lady who was a straight shooter that never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off her back.

Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her late husband of over 50 years, James Jerry Woods, her father Raymond Taylor, her mother Bethel Taylor, and two brothers, David and Robert Taylor. Brenda is survived by her two daughters Lory Ferrell and Jamie Fridy (Benjamin) and two sons Jeremy Woods (Caroline) and Terrell Woods (Gail Griffith). Brenda was a beloved Grammy to her seven grandchildren: Taylor, Noah, Jacob, Becca, Zach, Raymond, and Ryan. They were her world.

Brenda was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Irondale where you could find her singing praises in the choir and working the food bank, but her greatest love was working with The Lord’s children. She taught Sunday school, worked in the nursery, church preschool, and helped with various Children’s Church activities.

Brenda was a Meme, a nanny, and caregiver who watched many children over many years in her home. Her Christian heart would even take on kids without pay if the family was struggling. Many in Irondale knew and cared for sweet Miss Brenda who lived in the house near the school with the big water oak tree.

She loved to read her bible, to cook and to craft, road trips and days on the lake, and she couldn’t say no to a good bargain hunt.

A memorial service will be held for Brenda Sue Taylor Woods at the Kilgore Funeral Home on April 19th at 2pm where we will honor not only her great life, but also the love of hers, James Jerry Woods.
