Chris, the news of your passing was a rude shock. You used to call me your Africa sister.. You were so humorous, cool and collected. We share a lot of laughs and that is what I will remember. Rest well bro!

Seeing all these amazing messages from people all over the world say one thing about Chris-HE LIVED! He REALLY lived! He touched people's hearts all over the world. He created his own world communitywide network of friends. People of all religions, ethnicity, countries...That's pretty amazing when you think about it. If we had more people like Chris in the world, we could solve all the world's problems. We lost an amazing man. I hope for peace for his family. We were going to have a get together this summer with our families so I will miss what could have been. But I'll always be thankful for the time we did have.

I still can't believe your gone. You were an amazing person, you had a heart of gold. I will never forget how sweet and kind you were when we were in high school, I remember the way we all were..I can't get that image out of my mind. To the Safi family-I met Chris in the late '90's when I was home in Oxford, AL on a visit from my house in Phoenix, AZ. He was close friends with my sister Lora in college, but we became friends too. I was wearing a Phoenix Suns shirt so he immediately began asking me questions about that seasons roster was like. I thought he'd been to Phoenix before, but soon we were sitting off away from everyone telling each other about our world travels. His being much more extensive than mine. We kept in touch through my sister then through social media. I'd see him online at odd hours at night just like me so we'd catch up. He would tell me about how much he loved his family. Then I'd tell him how much I adore Lora's daughter & son. I battled cervical cancer for several years & he'd always check up on me. To say I'm going to miss this amazing guy who's been in my life almost 20 years is an understatement. Rob-your dad was SO proud of you & loved you more than you'll ever know. Elizabeth, I'm so sorry we never met before. I'd be coming to the funeral, but I'm ill. My family is coming through. My deepest sympathy goes out to each of you.

Chris, I can't begin to tell you how much me & everyone in my family will miss you! I lost my Phoenix Suns buddy. I hope you taught that amazing little boy how awesome they are. :-) I'll miss our funny talks. I'll write you well, my friend. Someone like you belongs immortalized in books.

Chris and I worked together at (then) Verizon Wireless Music Center. He was funny but couldn't drive a golf cart very well. Lol. Chris loved his wife and son and talked about them often. He will be missed!

I still remember that first day at Eastwood College in '92 when we were the first two to enter the classroom, and that's when we became friends. I'm glad we got to connect again in the last few years. You had a kind heart and a great sense of humor. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed by many.

I know how your family are feeling, I lost my brother at the same age. I also know that you will provide them with the strength and sweetness of peace. 
We were classmates in LCS. Ha! I remember the pranks and jokes we made at the teachers. Oh, my goodness remember the International day at Lincoln and we danced the Lebanese dabkeh! :-) Also remember the birthday parties shared with friends in Ghana.

Our hearts are breaking for Elizabeth & Rob and all of the Safi family.  We have shared so many wonderful years with Chris, enjoying BBQ's in the backyard while watching the kids enjoy life; watching Alabama Football games & planning Halloween parties that would top the year before.  We watched our boys grow & become Best Friends, all the while we did as well.  Danny & I watched sadly as the Weatherfords moved away & you guys prepared for the move to Africa.  It was only your return that brought back happiness to Sunrise again. To hear of Chris' passing sadens all our hearts & makes us realize that we should cherish those moments & people in life that mean the most.  Chris was an amazing friend who was witty & caring, a friend that will be missed greatly.  We are praying for you guys at this time, for peace & comfort.  Our family will always be here if there is ever a need.  We are forever friends & Chris will never be forgotten!

Nothing will ever describe the pain I'm feeling right now. I can't really think that you are gone I just won't believe it. It's not fair. I didn't get to see you one last time to hug you and kiss you and just say how much I loved and cared for you. You have been the best big brother in my 25 years! Life will not be the same without you here. I love you with all my heart you will forever live in it. I miss you so much and wish I could of spoken to you one last time. You were an angel! And still are but just not on earth but in heaven.

It still has not set in that you're gone, Chris. I'm not sure it ever will. The main advantage to being 6 hours away is that I can still pretend you're in Birmingham. I wish I could share that with your wife and son... that ability to pretend that all is as it should be. I can't, though, and my heart breaks for them, and for your family, as they try to move forward without you. 

Elizabeth and Rob, I've never met you, but Safi was a great friend to me at JSU and in the years since. His greatest joy in this life was being a husband and a dad. We would chat on FB and even through typed words you could hear they joy and pride and love when he would talk about you guys. I won't make the services, but my prayers are with you, and my heart joins yours in remembering and celebrating this very sweet man.
