

James Harold Huggins, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 6, 2025, just five days shy of his 94th birthday. Born on June 11, 1931, to Archie and Lois Huggins of Gulf Shores, AL, Jim lived a life filled with love and purpose. In 1959, he married Marilyn Faye Long, his beloved wife of 54 years, who preceded him in death.
Affectionately known as “Huggy Bear,” Jim, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed a successful career as a Real Estate Broker and was the proud owner of J. Huggins Realty. A passionate supporter of Babe Ruth Baseball, he sponsored and cheered on the Leeds area team. Jim also cherished playing golf with his friends, a favorite pastime that brought him much joy. He will be fondly remembered for his generous spirit, warm heart, and genuine love for people.
Jim is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. J.D. Bailey and Penny Huggins Bailey, and Greg and Alisa Huggins Burleson; five beloved grandchildren: Kayla, Jimmie, and Victoria Bailey, Chandler and Kaylee Burleson; and one precious great-granddaughter, Rosalie Ann Bailey.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds beginning at 2:00PM with burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
