
James (J.) Worth Walters, formerly of Easton, Maryland died October 2, 2014 at his home in Moody, Alabama. Born to the late James Walters and Edith Worth on December 8, 1927 in Hillsboro, Maryland, Worth grew up hunting and fishing in Caroline and Queen Anne Counties. He served in the Navy for two years, entering as an apprentice seaman and achieving the rank of electrician's mate third class. He served aboard the USS Philippine Sea and was part of Operation Highjump, when his ship carried Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd across the Antarctic Circle. He graduated from Stout Teachers College in Wisconsin. Mr. Walters taught woodworking in St. Michaels and auto mechanics in Easton; he also worked at Preston Trucking Company. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Easton for many years, serving both as a deacon and a trustee. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping with his family and helping others. He is survived by his three daughters, Jamie Lyn Walters of Alexandria, VA; Krista Walters Peterson (Kurt) of Saginaw, TX; René Walters Golden (Stan) of Cook Springs, AL; four grandchildren, David Peterson (Angie), Bethany Peterson Kurtz (Carl), Jonathan Peterson, and Kristine Golden; sister Shirley Walters Hutson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elva Mae Giffin; second wife, Johanna (Joy) Harris; four brothers and three sisters. Donations may be made to CrossWorld in memory of J.
