John William Watson “Buddy”, age 85, of Vandiver, AL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Beulah Watson; brothers, Billy Ray Watson and Donald Watson; sisters, Chirstine Manfre, Linda Knight and Alice Aderholt; great grandchild, Tyler Rhett Watson.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Watson, son, John Watson (Sheila); brother, Marion Watson (Rebecca); sister, Catherine “Honey” Parker; grandchildren, Tyler Watson (Karleigh), Brad Watson (Courtney); great grandchildren, Colten Sipe, Hudson Watson, Houston Watson, Henlee Watson, Kennedi Watson, and an abundance of nieces and nephews. Buddy retired from Baptist Montclair and was a board member of Coosa Valley Electric Co-Op for 25 years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Vandiver, AL from 11:30AM to 12:30PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church beginning at 12:30PM with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
