

Opal met the love of her life, James Lawrence Kendrick, and they were wed December 16, 1950. These two soulmates spent 30 wonderful years together before Lawrence’s death in 1980.
Opal was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was always at the center of her life. Her dedication to her family ensured that she always stayed close to her children, and her kind heart led her to raise several of her grandchildren. To her family and close friends, Opal truly was a living Angel.
Opal has many family members that she was reunited with when she entered those pearly gates. Along with her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, 2 sisters, and her son, Larry Kendrick.
Opal’s memory will live on in the hearts of all that loved her. She was survived by her daughter, Barbara Yarbrough, her sisters Polly Sellers and Jeanette Bryant, her grandchildren Lawrence Yarbrough, Leona Sanders, Patty Gobert, and James Kendrick. She was also blessed to have a total of five great-grandchildren that she adored.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13th from 5 to 7 p.m at Kilgore Funeral Home at 1750 Ashville Road, Leeds, Alabama. The funeral service will be the following day, Wednesday, January 14th, beginning at 2:00 p.m in the chapel. The burial will immediately follow at the adjacent Cedar Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
