Sally was a writer and music lover, a true American patriot, skilled in Southern grace and virtue, and a walking encyclopedia of the American movie. Although her given name was Sally, she was known as Cookie to her family and a wide circle of friends. Her humor, her insight and her warmth were extraordinary, and we will miss our many hours of good conversation and shared memories. Her family’s love is with her always.
She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Mack Smith.
She is survived by her husband Bob Freind, her son Chris (Sharon) Cunniff, granddaughters Hannah and Addie Cunniff, brother Joe Mack (Margaret) Smith, nieces Amy Chiles, Leah (Chad) Rodgers, and Meg (Ansley) Yarbrough, and stepdaughters Pam (Ronnie) Randall, Becky (Robby) Falkner, and Susie (David) Zaden.
