

Virginia Jobe Hardee, , passed away Monday evening, January 20, 2014 at Bell Minor Home, Gainesville, Ga., after three years of struggle with several serious health issues, including strokes and congestive heart failure. Virginia was born February 23, 1928 in Tampa, Fl, daughter of Francis Douglas and Alalia Melrose nee Clemons Jobe. She graduated high school in 1946 at Sylvania High School, Sylvania, Ga. She married Samuel Newton Hardee, June 3, 1949. She was a lifelong housewife and homemaker, interested in crochet, reading, and Braves baseball. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Leeds, since 1972. Virginia is predeceased by her husband, Samuel, and her sisters, Florence Carolyn Ballentine and Meridyth Schroder. She is survived by sons, S. Dale and Mary A. Hardee, Cleveland, GA; Allen N. and Mary F. Hardee, Galveston, Tx; and Steven R. and Diane Moore Hardee, Locust Grove, Ga; her sisters, Lillian and Leo Letourneau, Tampa, Fl and Marguerite and Jim Castro, Citrus Heights, Ca; her brother Olin and Delorice Jobe; and her sister-in-law, Milbra Millican, Live Oak, Fl. Virginia has five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation for family will be at 5:00 pm and for friends and guests from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on January 23, 2014. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on January 24, 2014, Rev. Dee Dowdy officiating. Both the above will be at Kilgroe Funeral Home, 1750 Ashville Road, Leeds, Al 35094. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Virginia J. Hardee to the United Methodist Women at First United Method Church, Leeds, Al.
