Bruce Richard Stanley

January 31, 1942- June14, 2015

Though a sinner at best

And I have passed that test;

For the sins of my past

Have trembled flesh.

Yet He who gives rest

Has made me His guest.

Home, home at last.

Bruce R. Stanley was born in Los Angeles, California on January 31, 1942, the only son of Harry Cathcart Stanley Jr. and Eileen Margaret (Westman) Stanley.

After attending high school at Brown Military Academy in the late 1950s, he chose to serve his country by enlisting in the Marine Corps. After 23 years, which included two tours in Viet Nam, supply school at Camp Lejeune, and numerous other overseas tours, Bruce retired from the service in 1982. During his second career, he worked for SCE at the San Onofre Power Plant.

Although he was fully committed to each of his careers, his greatest joy and commitment was to his family and to his Lord. His faith in Jesus Christ sustained him throughout his adult life – and brought him joy even in the midst of his failing health. During his illness, he was without fear of death, only looking forward to the day when he would cross the finish line of life and meet Jesus face to face. His passion for truth and his faith is displayed by the spiritual legacy he tried to instill in his children and grandchildren and his life-long support to missionaries in the field.

Survived by his beloved wife, Catalina, of 52 1/2 years, and his four children (Kathryn, Bruce Jr., Ben, and Eileen) and their families including four grandchildren (Ned, Joshua, Caleb, and Gracie), Bruce will be missed greatly as a dearly loved husband, devoted father, and precious grandfather.
