January 1, 1956 – July 6, 2016
Born in Valley Forge, PA Mike’s family moved to Spring Valley, CA in 1964 when his father retired from the Navy. Mike and his brothers Frank, Nick and Bill, attended Mt. Miguel High School. In 1974 he met the love of his life, Leanna. Wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps he joined the Navy in the Seabees, the construction battalion, and served for one year until the Vietnam War ended. Most of his time in the service was on Diego Garcia, a little island in the Indian Ocean. Mike was proud to have served in the military and appreciated those who did as well.
April 10, 1976 Mike and Leanna were married at First Baptist Church of Lemon Grove where she grew up. Married for 40 years, Mike and Leanna have three wonderful kids Michael, Karen and Daniel, and eleven delightful grandchildren, Nehemiah, Haylie, Simon, Josiah, Charlie, Ann, Jonathan, Eva, Mercy, Aidan and Abbygail.
Mike worked as an aircraft frame mechanic building apache helicopters at Teledyne Ryan Aeronautics. After a serious injury he worked on his hobby as a photographer. Mike and Leanna traveled shooting thousands of landscape and animal pictures. He loved zoos, wild animal parks, and white tigers.
What defined Mike was his desire to help others by sharing his story using humor and social media. His story was of injury and pain, disability with his heart and diabetes, and then, through Christ’s love, healing in his spirit, yet not his body. God in His Love brought several people into Mike’s life to help him overcome bitterness and depression and bring Mike to a place of forgiveness for himself and others. The last ten years of Mike’s life, he began to live and love God. Now he in heaven, face to face with Jesus forever.
