Norris Barnes Gill

Norris went to be with the Lord in San Diego, California on December 20, 2015. He was born May 1, 1918 in a farm home on Garfield Table in Logan County, Nebraska to Harry Raymond Gill and Mary Susanna (Barnes) Gill. Norris was one of two children - a sister Waunetta Gill lives in Kansas City, Kansas.

Norris was preceded in death by his father Harry; mother Mary Susanna; a stepmother Nancy J. (Campbell, Yanken) Gill & a stepbrother Kenneth R. Yanken. Norris lost his mother when he was 11. Norris accepted the Lord at age 19 and served Him the rest of his days.

He was a WWII Veteran and served in the US Army as a 60 Millimeter Mortorman in the Battle for Okinawa with the 77 Infantry Division.

Norris married Dorothy Brower in 1949 and enjoyed 62 years of married life till her passing in 2012. Norris and Dorothy gave birth and raised 3 children. Son Raymond L. Gill of El Cajon, CA married Carol Gill and they have 2 children, Christina & Sean; Son Ronald N. Gill of Yakima, WA married Marla Gill and they have 2 boys, Jason and Matthew. Daughter Rhonda K. Gill married Lauris Shepherd of Killeen , TX and they have 8 children Beth, Amy, Tiffany, Kimberly, Laura, Anne, Joel and Nathan. A total of 12 grandchildren.

Norris loved the Lord, his wife, his family & was faithful till the end.

Norris will be laid to rest with his wife Dorothy at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, CA.

Norris was much loved and will be deeply missed.
