Annie Louise Carswell

Mrs. Carswell was born in Caldwell County to the late Andrew and Faunnie Davis Beard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Carswell; sisters Betty Beard, Jessie Price, Ruth Robbins, and Katherine Clontz; brothers Jim Beard, Gaither Beard; grandson David Harwood.

She was a member of the South Lenoir Church of God. Mrs. Carswell leaves a legacy of love and faith. Affectionately known as “Granny” to family and friends, she enjoyed preparing meals for family get-togethers and was an untiring homemaker, gardener and servant of the Lord.

Survivors include sons Billy Carswell and wife Mary, Grady Carswell and wife Carolyn, both of Lenoir, and Larry Carswell and wife Sue of Wilmington, NC; daughters Dorothy Harwood and husband Horace of Lenoir, Barbara Hennigar of Hickory, Joyce Fox of Hudson, and Jewel Cowick and husband Mike of Lenoir; sister, Mrs. Ross Hawkins (Marjorie) of Lenoir; eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at South Lenoir Church of God, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Ernest Bowes and Dr. Ken Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenoir. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
