Bela Robert Beach

Mr. Beach was born in Caldwell County to the Elbert Earl Beach and Mamie Lutz Beach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell Keller Beach; a son, Jerry Beach; two brothers, Ben and Jim Beach; five sisters, Merle King, Esther Hopper, Jane Veal, Inez McRae and Bernice Cohen.

He was a graduate of Hudson High School and Rutherford College, retired from Century Furniture, served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Command Sergeant Major and participated in the Normandy Invasion and also served in the NC National Guard, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson where he was a choir member and served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his son, Gene Beach and wife Denise of Newton; a sister, Marie Miller of Lenoir; a granddaughter, Meghan Smith of Lincolnton.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hudson with Reverend R. Mack Jarvis, III officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
