Benny Mearl Walsh

Benny Mearl Walsh, age 84 of Lenoir, North Carolina entered into the gates of Heaven and into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at AMOREM Hospice in Hudson with his beloved family by his side.

Benny was born January 6, 1940 in Caldwell County to the late Fred Walsh and Junie Keller Walsh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Geraldine Davis Walsh, two brothers, Roy and Carl "Buddy" Walsh, two sisters, Ann Enloe, Peggy Soots and three grandchildren.

Benny loved his family with all his heart, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Benny was a proud veteran of the United States National Guard and a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He worked for many years in the furniture industry and then he owned and operated Walsh's Body Shop.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons; Darrin Walsh and wife Elaine, of Lenoir, David Walsh and wife Michelle, of Conover, Daughters; Cindy Walsh Philyaw and husband Jesse of Lenoir, Teresa Walsh Cox and husband Jeff of Lexington, SC, two sisters, Barbara Peterson and Nancy Ferguson, both of North Myrtle Beach, SC along with six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church of Lenoir at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 with Rev. Sam Craven and Rev. Zack Bryant officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
