Bruce Wiley Severt

Bruce Wiley Severt, age 74, of Morganton passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Gateway Rehabilitation And Healthcare surrounded by family and friends. He was born on April 1, 1950 to the late Wiley Earl Severt and Mamie Crane Severt.

For over 40 years Bruce (aka "Globe Trotter") was a long distance truck driver. One of the many companies he drove for was Houser Trucking out of Vale, NC. In his free time when he wasn't on the road, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson. Bruce had a deep compassion of caring for people and he enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh.

Left to cherish his memory are his children David Severt (Shannon) of Taylorsville, Heather Seagle (R.J.) of Hudson, and Kelli McCraw, his grandchildren Josh Severt, Kaleigh Seagle, Maddie Seagle, and Lucas Severt, his brothers Bobby Severt and Bart Severt, the mother of his children P-Nut, many nieces and nephews, and his best trucker friends Roger Short aka "El Dorado" and Jerry Philyaw aka "Half Pint".

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his partner of 30 years Louise Ledford, his siblings Gaynell Deaton, Naydine Chester, Benny Severt, and Diane Wilson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15th, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at 5:00 PM in the chapel at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers are Josh Severt, Jeff Whittington, Jack Wilson, Dwayne Deaton, Lucas Severt, and Maddox Whittington.
