

He was born on March 4, 1940 in Avery County to the late Grady Andrews and Polly Ferguson Andrews.
Mr. Andrews, or as he was known by many, “Son, the Living Legend”, was respected throughout the state and retired from the North Carolina Forestry Service in 2002 after a 30 year career. Mr. Andrews was a devoted family man that gave his all to his family and especially enjoyed and loved his grandchildren. Above all he loved God. He was a member of Gospel Truth Ministries.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ensley Andrews; a son, Gordon Andrews; a brother, Carl Andrews; and sisters, Alberta Clark and Mariam Greene.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Walter Andrews and wife Jellan of Lenoir, Ronald Andrews Sr. and wife Alecia of Morganton, and Edward Andrews and wife Felicia of Lenoir; daughter, Debra Miller and husband Bruce Jr. of Lenoir; a brother, George Andrews and wife Melba of Newland; sisters, Betty Fraley of Asheville, Wanda Howell of Pineola, and Margaret English of Avery County; grandchildren, Cody Andrews, Mandy Andrews, Ronald Andrews Jr., Tia Andrews, Chad Arney, Jamie Woods, Christopher Andrews, Taylor Fortenberry, Savannah Andrews, Angela Andrews, Cassie Helton, Beth Johnson, Catherine Brewer, Samantha Brewer, Annabeth Brewer, Johnny Miller and Jeremiah Miller; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Pendry’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill A. Bryant officiating. Interment will follow the service at Miller Family Cemetery.
The family will receive on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Gentlemen serving as active pallbearers: Matt Andrews, Jerimiah Miller, Johnny Miller, Tyler Coffey, Ronald Andrews Jr., and Jessie Moore. Serving as honorary pallbearers: Chad Arney, Grayson Arney, and Isiah Watson.
