
Mr. Lathan was born in Caldwell County to the late Clarence Henry Lathan and Betty Mack Lathan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Lathan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a self-employed small engine repairman. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Trish” Lathan of the home; step-sons, Jason LaRose of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Walker Gentry of Canton and Dylan Gentry of Lenoir; a brother, Mack Lathan of Sugar Grove; a step-brother, David Smith of Lenoir; sisters, Karen Bridges of VA and Lisa Helton of Lenoir; step-sisters, Becky Beck of Lenoir and Sandy Jordan of Hickory.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Lenoir with President Mark Kiser officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Church prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason LaRose, Walker Gentry, Dylan Gentry, Darrell Haas, Kenneth Huggins and Les Hedrick.
The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
