Dorothy Jean Sides

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Wright Sides, 84, of Hickory passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living in Lenoir. Mrs. Sides was born February 11, 1937 in Caldwell County to the late Carl Reece and Mary Smith Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Morris Sides, three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Sides was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life and her reason for being. Dorothy didn’t just spend time with her family; she was truly involved with them. She loved to play with the grandchildren, rolly bat, hide and seek were just 2 of their favorites. Dorothy attended every possible activity that her family was involved in from sporting events that the grandchildren took part in to any special event that was happening. She was a waitress in the Hickory area for many years, and loved serving her customers and they loved her. She worked at George’s Restaurant, Joel’s Kitchen, Circus Hall of Cream, Viewmont Sandwich Shop and Woodland’s. Dorothy was full of life and love and she will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael Sides and wife Margaret of Granite Falls and her daughter Kandra Setzer and husband Mitchell of Lenoir, four grandchildren; Alan Sides and Wife Alexandra, Sydney Boggs and husband Zach, Jennifer Sime and husband Tyler, Mitchell Setzer Jr. and wife Stephanie, 6 great-grandchildren; Hunter and Sawyer Sime, Owen and Ellie Boggs, Micah and Sadie Setzer and Catherine Dorothy who is due this month. Also left to cherish her memory are two beloved nieces, Tam Moser and Kristine Benfield.

Services for Mrs. Sides will be held privately.
