

Lenoir-Edith Theresa Marie Ferguson Howell. , 81 of Lenoir, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at her daughters residence, while surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Howell was born February 26, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late Monroe Ferguson and Alma Witherspoon Ferguson.
She was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel/ Mitchell Chapel AME Church where she had served as a church treasurer, served on the steward board, was very active in missionary work, and was a member of the quartet, “Soul Singing Caravan” for over 37 years. She was also employed by Broyhill Furniture Corporation for over 36 years at the Harper Plant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy A. Howell, a grandson, Lee Carlton, sisters; Galietha Hackett, Iana Jones, Dorothy Ferguson, Pedither Witherspoon, Rosie E. Ferguson, and a brother, Charlie B. Ferguson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Nina Patterson and husband Terry Lee of Lenoir, Carolyn Parker and husband Kent of Brooklyn, NY, two grandchildren; Jacquelyn Wilson and husband Lewis of Hickory, Admidray Price of Wilkesboro, step-grandchild; Danielle Covington and husband Andre’ of Hickory, great grandchildren; Jaliyah Howell, Jakenzi Howell,
AJ Covington, Amari Covington and Avian Covington.
A Funeral Service to honor Mrs. Howell will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. David Montgomery, Rev. Verdell Patterson, Rev. James Wilfong and Rev. James Cross officiating.
Interment will follow at Mitchell Chapel AME Church Cemetery in Lenoir.
Nieces will be asked to serve as flower girls.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home
