Faye Irene Austin Benfield, 97, of Sheriff Road, Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away at 1:50 AM, August 10, 2018. She was at Grand View Villa Assisted Living Center, in Lenoir, NC. Faye was born March 17, 1921, in Caldwell County NC to the late William R. Austin, and Della J. Auton, Austin. Faye was a homemaker, and a member of Union Baptist Church. She loved flower and vegetable gardening, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, G. Henry Benfield, her son, G. Gerald Benfield, a daughter, Barbara J. Benfield, a daughter, Louise Benfield Huffman, one grandson, Marcus D. Benfield, one great grandson, Nicholas B. Benfield, ten brothers – Perry, Howard, Walter, Elijah, Cloyd, Bill, Frank, Carl, Mack, and Gary Austin, and one sister, Evelyn Austin Blizzard. Faye is survived by one Son, H. Dal Benfield, and wife Lynda Satterwhite Benfield, of Granite Falls, a son in law, Jimmy D. Huffman, five grandchildren – Lisa Huffman Ryder, Dawn Huffman Ryder, Sandy Benfield Abernathy, Jerry Benfield, Amy Benfield Rood, nine great grandchildren – Dustin Ryder, Caleb Ryder, Chelsea Ryder Edwards, Trevor Reese, Tyler Reese, Marcus Daniel Benfield, Sean Scott, Corey Scott, Jaron Benfield , Ariel Benfield and five great, great grandchildren, Easton Edwards, Ava Edwards, Noah Scott, Bria Scott, and Zayden Benfield. A Funeral Service will be held at Union Baptist Church at 4:00 pm on Monday, August 13, 2018 with Rev. Mark Robinette officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are Jerry Benfield, Jarond Benfield, Daniel Benfield, Trevor Reese, Dusty Ryder, and Caleb Ryder. Words of comfort may be left for the family at www.pendrysfuneralhome.com.
