

Frank Clinton Richards, 90, of Lenoir, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, February 6, 2016 with his loving daughter by his side.
He was born March 20, 1925 in Caldwell County and was the son of the late Nancy (Clark) and Thomas Richards.
Frank served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1946 in the Coast Artillery Battalion. Frank and his wife, Para Lee relocated to Maryland for several years, where he worked for Trailways Bus Company as a mechanic. In 1972, they moved back to North Carolina where he worked at Broyhill Furniture as a security guard until his retirement.
He was a character who loved his family and loved jokes and music. His favorite book was the Bible, which he read daily, always seeming to find new meaning in the verses each time he read it.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Para Lee (Walsh) Richards, three sisters; Colene, Jewel and Mary, and 2 brothers; Paul and Ned.
He is survived by his son, Thomas E. Melton of Waldorf, MD, daughter, Margaret Lee (Melton) Ballerini of Lenoir, four grandchildren, Richard, Thomas, Denise and Jeffrey, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and 4 brothers; Bob, Dan, Fred and Carl.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
