

On March 15, 2011, Hazel Ruth Whisenant Philyaw, 70, of Lenoir, NC, went home to be with the Lord and other dear family members before her, after years of fighting with her health, but never losing her Faith.
Mrs. Philyaw was born on June 21, 1940 in Caldwell County to the late William John and Edna Crump Whisenant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Argie Philyaw, Jr.; two brothers, Horrace and Jack Whisenant; one sister, Doris Watson.
Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Gail Arnold and Wanda Philyaw, David Philyaw and wife, Melissa, all of Lenoir, NC; three sisters, Shirley Robbins, Faye Whisenant, Lois Whisenant Austin and husband Harrold; two brothers, Reverend William “Jim” Whisenant and wife, Bertha and Bobby Philyaw and wife Nora; grandchildren, Angel Earp and husband James, Jennifer Arnold, Taylor Philyaw, Andrew and Thomas Philyaw; great grandchildren, Jessica Earp, Jesse Earp, Jozie Earp.
A funeral service for Mrs. Philyaw will be held, Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church at 11:00 am with Reverend Jerry Lingerfelt and Reverend James Earp officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm, Friday, March 18, 2011 at Pendrys’ Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Clark, Brandon Bentley, Johnny Robbins, Kenny Whisenant, Elijah “Shay-bo” Small, and Jimmy Whisenant.
