Mrs. Hazel South

Hazel Telsalene Smithey South, age 94 of Lenoir, passed away, on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital Born Monday, November 21, 1927 to the Nora Eller and Walley Smithey in Moravian Falls, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, Ms. South is proceeded in death by her husband Harry Tracy South, one brother and seven sisters.

She is survived by son Don South (Clintina), daughter Mary Ann Holland (Dean). Four grandchildren, Christy Jones (Michael), Jerome Chandler, Jessica South, and Kristen Helton. Great grandchildren are Ava and Andrew Jones, and Alaina Farris. A special niece that spent a lot of time with Hazel, Mary Sue Price along with a number of nephew and nieces.

Hazel will be remembered for her love for her church, as she was a faithful lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir. Ms. South loved her family wholeheartedly and lived her life for the Lord so she could be a testimony to her family. She worked for over 40 years at City Service Cleaners, she was known for being a hard, dedicated worker.

The South family will receive friends Friday, July 8, 2022 from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm at Calvary Baptist Church.

The Funeral Service for Hazel will follow on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 1545 Orchard Dr, Lenoir, NC.
