James was born to the late Aubrey and Louise Osborne Beck in Rowan Co. James worked at Hickory Chair as a rip saw operator. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. James was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was also a lifetime member of the N.R.A.
Including his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Beck.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Beck of Granite Falls, a special son, Paul Childers of Lenoir, sister, Judy Katz (Rick) of Ashton, MD., special friends, Mike Greene and Fred McCurry, and numerous friends and relatives.
A Memorial service for Mr. Beck will be 1:00 pm Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Aldene Wheeler and Preacher Mike Greene officiating.
