James Douglas Chester

James Douglas Chester, 79, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Chester was born in Caldwell County to the late Dock George Chester and Coleen Mikeal Chester. He was a long haul truck driver for 54 years and was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy. He loved NASCAR and gospel music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Walter Chester, and two sisters, Norma Jean Chester Dillard and Jeanette Chester Annas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Virginia Stout Chester; his sons, Kevin Douglas Chester of Granite Falls, Russel Hamer Chester of Taylorsville, and Michael Coleman of Cleveland, TN; his daughters, Dianne Chester Whitt of Lenoir, Elaine Chester Permuy of Boyton Beach, FL, Jimma Chester Dotson of Hudson, and Rebecca Chester Lowrance of Lenoir; his sisters, Glenda Chester Church of Lenoir, and Mavis Chester Gragg of Lenoir; eighteen grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Kevin Skipworth and Reverend Bobby Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
