He was born August 2, 1930 in Newland, NC to the late Hobert Dellinger and Stella Watson Dellinger. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his great-grandson, Dennis Walter Combs.
Surviving Mr. Dellinger are his beloved wife of 30 years, Marie Prestwood Dellinger; one son, Darrell Eugene Dellinger and wife, Melanie of Lenoir; two daughters, Carolyn Lowrance and husband, Claude of Saw Mills and Mary Jane Williams and husband, Toy of Lenoir; three grandchildren, Douglas Combs, Andrew Dellinger and Nicci Haas; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Rachel Hollifield of Marion.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
