Jenny Lynne Griffin

Miss Griffin was born in San Bernardino County, CA to Mr. James “Bud” Griffin, Jr. of Lenoir and Bertha Griffin Ramsey of Asheville. She was a member of Gilead Baptist Church. She was a 1977 graduate of Gamewell Collettsville High School where she was active in many sports. Jenny later graduated from Warren Wilson College with a degree in social work. She was a Social Worker at South Mountain Children’s Home for several years.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Jennie Clonch, and paternal grandparents, Coley and Althea Griffin.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, James “Coley” Griffin and wife Melinda of Lenoir; a sister, Penny Doggette of Huntersville; nephews, Rocky Faw, Ethan, Elijah, and Easton Griffin; a niece, Erica Griffin; and best friend, Linda Grandle.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Gilead Baptist Church in Nebo, NC at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Doug St. John and Dr. Alan Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Pendry’s Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rocky Faw, Elijah Griffin, Ethan Griffin, Michael Wilcox, Kelly Smith and Kevin Grossbeck. Honorary pallbearer will be Easton Griffin.
