Joe David Laws

He was born September 2, 1925 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Andy Greene Laws and Elizabeth Price. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Annie Laws, on November 4, 2013; two sons, Andy and Arey Laws; one granddaughter Deva Laws; four brothers, Coy Laws, Jess Laws, Fred Laws and Dan Laws; and three sisters, Toye Branch, Hazel Barker, and Mabel Hawkins.

Mr. Laws owned and operated his own saw mill company, and retired from Bernhardt Furniture, and was a faithful member of Poarch’s Chapel Missionary Methodist Church. His passion in life was providing for his family and being a servant for the Lord.

Mr. Laws is survived by three sons, Donald Laws of Lenoir, Steve Laws of Lenoir, and Jonas Laws and wife Lesley of Granite Falls; four daughters, Esta Crisp and husband Dennis of Lenoir, Reba Pennington and husband Gary of Lenoir, Mary Pritchard and husband Dennis of Granite Falls, and Toye Crisp and husband Dwayne of Lenoir. Mr. Laws is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Byrd.

The funeral service will be held, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Confidence Advent Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 18, 2013 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
