John Melton Beane

John Melton Beane, 94 of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Beane was born March 15, 1917 in Caldwell County to the late Thomas Beane and Minnie Smith Beane. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years Dorothy Baker Beane, son John L. Beane and son in law Bobby Whisnant, four brothers; Paul, Roy, Ted and Jay Beane, three sisters; Ola Stine, Emma Lee McCall, Lucy McCall.

Mr. Beane was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and was the Man of the year in 2000 at Union Grove Baptist Church He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was a retired contractor and his favorite hobby was raising cattle.

Mr. Beane is survived by wife Willie Brookshire Beane, two daughters; Reba B. Whisnant and Linda B. Miller of Lenoir, one daughter in law Carolyn Beane of Lenoir, one step daughter; JoAnne Price and husband Jack of Lenoir, one step son; Tom Brooshire and wife Vickie of Lenoir, two sisters; Dorothy B. Miller and husband Dale of Hudson, Mildred B. Bradshaw and husband Clifford of Rutherfordton, three grandchildren, Tony and wife Anne Whisnant, Jody Whisnant, John L. Beane and wife Wendy Beane, one great grandchild; Jennifer and husband Chris Townsend, 2 great great grandchildren; Spencer Beane and Reagan Townsend , 3 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Pendry’s Funeral Home from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church Friday, August 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Sam Craven and Reverend Marvin Yarborough officiating the service. Mr. Beane will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be the deacons and Mr. Beane’s Sunday school class.

The family would like to thank Hospice nurses Melody Keener and Kathy Suddreth and all the Catawba County Hospice for their assistance and care they have shown our family.
