John Dall Carpenter, age 88 of Lenoir, passed away, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at his residence. Born Friday, Febuary 15, 1935 to the late Evie Wilson and Howard Carpenter Sr., in Caldwell County, NC.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his wife of 60 plus years, Jean Miller Carpenter, Son Scott Carpenter, Grandson Cameron Carpenter, Brothers Howard Carpenter Jr., Eugene Carpenter, Fred Carpenter, Homer Carpenter, Floyd Carpenter, Boyd Carpenter, and Sisters Brenda Boyette and Dorris Miller.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by his Daughters Reba Andrews and Janet Harris, and Son Michael Carpenter. Grandchildren Stephanie Clough, Jeremy Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, Eric Carpenter, Kelly McCall, and Charlie Harris, along with nine Great Grandsons and 6 Great Granddaughters, and Sister Linda Lowman.
John will be remembered for being a very loving and tender man. He loved his church and family. Helping others and being a hard worker was a trait that was important to him. He enjoyed working in the vegetable garden and spending time with family. Mr. Carpenter retired from Bernhardt Furniture after working 39 years.
The Carpenter family will receive friends Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
The Funeral Service for John will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Jerry Bentley officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to send a special “Thank You”, to Grandson Eric, for his dedication and support for his grandfather.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Mt Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
