John Edward Reary, age 76, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born November 28, 1946 in Caldwell County to the late Brady and Jetty Stallings Reary.
John was a loving and dedicate husband, father and grandfather who adored his family. John enjoyed the many family vacations, especially family beach trips. He was a very generous man, donating food for the concession stands for the Buddy Maynord Football League and the Lenoir Little League Baseball teams. John loved college and professional sports, and was an avid fan of the UNC Chapel Hill, Carolina Tarheels and the Carolina Panthers. He ran a local restaurant was responsible for giving many people their very first public jobs. He had a larger than life personality and all who knew him loved him. He will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 53 years, Lynda Owings Reary of the home, a daughter, Lara Reary Ayers and husband Charles of Lenoir, a son, Jon Reary and wife Amanda of Grand Haven, MI, a brother, Bobby Reary of Winston Salem, sisters, Norma Craig of Winston Salem, Marlene Benfield of Blacksburg, VA and Patricia Blakely of Cary.
Also left to cherish his memory are his precious grandchildren, Matthew Cannon of Lenoir, Savannah Ayers of Pinehurst, Bradie Reary of Rockford, MI, Charlize Ayers of Lenoir , Gracie Reary of Grand Haven, MI. along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Mitchell officiating.
The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service, from 10:45 am until 12:45 pm at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.
