Joyce Mae Hood

Joyce was born on February 22, 1948 in Caldwell County to the late Simon Hood and Patsy Shell Hood. She was employed as a Day Care Teacher for most of her working life, she loved working with children, and her favorite pastime was walking at the Broyhill Walking Park in Lenoir. She was a member of Hood’s Chapel United Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Sonny, Billy, John, Carlos Sunshine, Joe, and June Hood, and sisters Peggy and Edna Corpening.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Annie Loraine Rhinehardt of Charlotte and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A funeral service celebrating Joyce’s life will be held at Hood’s Chapel United Church of God on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Bishop Philmore Hester officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow at Hoods Creek Cemetery in Lenoir.
