Mr. Larry Terrance Wheeling, 81, of Granite Falls passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Wheeling was born February 8, 1941 in Caldwell County to the late James Horace and Ollie Mae Piercy Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Linda Moretz Wheeling and two sisters.
Mr. Wheeling was a member of Mountain Grove Church and worked as a Contractor for many years. He loved to hunt and traveled all over chasing deer and elk. But, he loved to fish more than anything. He loved to catch walleye and nothing pleased him more than to share them with his friends and neighbors. He could always be found at the sporting goods store talking about that big one that got away. In the summer, the garden was first priority. He was so proud of his garden and loved to share the bounty with everyone. And no matter what you needed done, he would always be there to help.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Tammy Wheeling Glasby and husband Greg of Granite Falls and a grandson, Colten Greene and wife Jesica of Lenoir.
A funeral service to honor Mr. Wheeling will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Levine’s Children’s Hospital at Levine Childrens Hospital C/O Atrium Health Organization, 208 East Blvd Charlotte, NC 28203 or at www.atriumhealthfoundation.org.
