
Maynard Oscar Robbins, 94, of Ferguson, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Robbins was born April 3, 1922 in Caldwell County to the late John Robbins and Arlie Bradshaw Robbins.
Maynard was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II in Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples, Central Europe and Rhineland. He received the European Campaign Medal with Five Bronze Stars, A Purple Heart, and the American Defense Service Medal. He was employed for the City of Hickory for many years as a truck driver.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Greene Robbins, a daughter, Sandra Elaine Grose, his son, Melvin Darrell Robbins, four brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, John Robbins of Lenoir, daughter, Brenda Walsh of Hudson, a brother, Jay Robbins of Florida, his grandchildren, Jonathan Robbins, Paula Brown, Ethan Walsh, Quintin Walsh, Freddie Walsh, Lee Walsh, Melvin Robbins and Daniel Robbins. Also left to cherish his memory are his seven great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service to honor Mr. Robbins will be held on Monday, August 8, 2046 at 10:00 am at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
