Nina Mae Smith Cates

Mrs. Cates was born in Caldwell County to the late Dewey Smith and Louette S. Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Cates; her son, Donnie Fagan; brothers, Gene and Joe Smith and a sister, Pauline Gray.

She was a homemaker and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.

Survivors include a brother, Ted Smith of Lenoir; a sister, Floye Gibson of Lenoir; nieces and nephews, Susan and Marshall Williams, Donna Willholt, Randy Gibson, Jim Gray and Jack Gray.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Sam Craven and Reverend Randy Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
