Nora Myers Shumate

Born December 30, 1932 in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Mae Myers.

Mrs. Shumate was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Ray Shumate, one brother, John Myers, two sisters, Flora Myers and Ruth Billings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Johnny Shumate of Hudson, David Shumate and wife Marilyn of Lenoir and Paul Shumate and wife Mandy also of Lenoir; her two daughters, Betty Winebarger of Granite Falls, and Janice Woodie and husband Dan of Lenoir. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lesley Mask, Allan Shumate, Amanda Wilson, Tracey Manning, Kelly Hinson, Megan Woodie, Matthew Shumate and Joshua Shumate, and Teanisha Waters; fourteen great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Virginia Felts, and Margie Myers.

Funeral services honoring Mrs. Shumate will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Tony Harris. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 7:00-9:00PM at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Bryan Tuttle, Justin Isenhour, Barry Barnette, Justin Coffey, Rick Pennell, and Shawn Bowman.
