Olen Devond Pennell, , 88 of Hudson passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 2, 1937, in Caldwell County, North Carolina, to the late Robert Lee Pennell and Gladys Hatton Pennell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Wayne Pennell, Robert Lee Pennell Jr. and one sister, Linda Pennell Fox.
Olen was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed playing golf as well as neighborhood activities including bingo and cookouts.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Joann Pritchard and husband Glenn of Hudson, Dorothy Chappell of Sharon, SC and Rebecca Greer of Hudson.
A funeral service will be held to honor Olen on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry's Lenoir funeral Home with Pastor Mark Dula officiating. A private burial will follow the service at Belleview Cemetery in Lenoir, NC.
