Virginia Broyhill Sweeney

Mrs. Sweeney was born in Wilkes County to the late Cicero Broyhill and Rainey Laws Broyhill. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was kind and good to everyone she met and she will be greatly missed by everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Guy Sweeney; her son, Ricky Gray Sweeney; brothers, Dewey and Warren H. Broyhill; sisters, Mae Clanton, Minnie Pilkinton, Arlee Ridout, Florence Minton and Beatrice Russell.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie S. Conley and husband James Donald “Donnie”; a brother, Jesse James Broyhill; sisters, Susie Pardue Broyhill and Ethel Smithey; her grandson Justin Conley, who was the center of her love, and wife Kristi; great grandchildren, Kerston McCall and Kenzi Fleming; a special niece who she looked forward to her weekly visits, Linda Lineback; extended family brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nephew and nieces.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Edd Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
