William Harvey Dancy

Funeral service will be held 2:30pm Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Lenoir Community Church with Minister Daniel McGee officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 1pm to 2:30pm at the Church. Serving as Pallbearers for the service will be members of the Lenoir Police Department. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Lenoir Community Church, Corner Stone Sunday School Class, and the Sabre Society of North Carolina.

Harvey graduated from Hudson High School in 1961 and Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in 1993 with an Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration.

He was a member of Lenoir Community Church, the Sabre Society of North Carolina, Hickory Aviation Museum, an Endowment Member of the National Rifle Association, and original member of the Harvey Dancy Citizen’s Police Academy where he was a most supporting advocate for his family in blue.

Harvey was preceded in death by his wife of forty-five years, Sherlene Cooper Dancy.

He is survived by several nieces, Lee Ann Gragg and her husband Jerry; Emily cooper, Melissa Cooper; and nephew Kenneth Cooper; brother in laws, Weldon Cooper, Leon Cooper and his wife Eileen Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be sent to the Lenoir Police Department Benevolent Association, Caldwell Hospice and Palliative “Care, Lenoir Community Church, or the Sabre Society of North Carolina/Hickory Aviation Museum.
