Funeral services for Charlotte Ann Barnes (Collins), 79, of Keller, formerly of Levelland, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 23, at First Baptist Church of Levelland, with Pastor Sammy Elliott officiating.
Burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of George Price Funeral Home of Levelland.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at George Price Funeral Home of Levelland,
She passed away April 17, 2018, in Fort Worth.
Charlotte was born July 29, 1938, Emma Odesa Coats Collins and W.F. “Bill” Collins in Odessa.
She grew up in Cisco and attended Cisco Junior College and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a bachelors of science degree.
Charlotte was an elementary school teacher for over 29 years at numerous locations throughout West Texas.
She and Royce were members of First Baptist Church Levelland and were actively involved in the “Sonshine” Choir.
Charlotte enjoyed traveling with family and church friends.
She and Royce were married for 59 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Royce Dale Barnes; son, Rick Dale Barnes and wife, Sheila, all of Keller; daughters: Lori Arnett and husband, Alvin, of Fort Worth, and Kara Barnes of Stephenville; grandson, Lance Mills of Traer, Iowa; granddaughter, Lita Mills and Preston Salyer of Granbury; and great-granddaughter, Layla Salyer; sister, Maedeen Dodds and Roy Dodds of Brownwood.
Donations may be made to the E.M. Barnes Scholarship Fund at South Plains College in Charlotte’s honor.
